The President claims that if the Republicans would only agree to a “balanced approach,” revenue would exceed spending, and in a few short years our physical imbalance would miraculously disappear.

By balanced, the President means he is willing to decrease some future spending if the Republicans will agree to a tax hike. In other words, the President will get additional revenue up front while the Republicans get a promise.

Unfortunately, far too many ordinary people are buying into the President’s fiction that physical balance magically rests with those of higher incomes paying their “fair share.” What, then, would be the result if income taxes are increased as per the President’s plan?

The truth is that increasing all tax rates by 100% for everyone paying income taxes would not solve our physical imbalance. Because – we do not have a revenue problem – we have a spending problem!

For example, during the last four years the national debt ballooned from $10.6 trillion to $16.3 trillion, an increase of 53.7%. According to CNSNews.com, that equates to $49,432.73 per household. Is there any wonder the President wants more revenue?

A good way to understand the national debt is to compare it to an ordinary family. When that family chooses to spend more than it brings in, it has a problem. And unless it changes course, its debt will eventually become unmanageable – it won’t be able to pay its bills and survive.

Is our nation any different? No, just larger!

Congress is about to vote to increase the national debt limit. And if times past are any predictor, they will soon be forced to vote again.

With such irresponsible leaders as we have in Washington, just how much longer can this republic survive?

There was a time when unions may have served a purpose, such as when they brought attention to unsafe working conditions in coal mines. Today, however, we have the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) that oversees all mine operations. And for all other workers there is the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).

One would be hard pressed to say unions helped the steel industry. American steel manufacturing used to be huge; today most manufacturing has ceased and operations moved overseas due to high union labor and benefit costs.

Who can forget that high union labor and benefit costs forced GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy – after dwindling profits forced numerous layoffs and plant closures?

And if you are into the news, you know Hostess, makers of Twinkies and other sweets, is presently in the process of shutting down all operations after negotiations between management and workers failed. Already in Chapter 11 due to expenses eating up all profits, management requested union concessions including a small pay cut so the company could stay afloat. The union said no!

For record, one of the ridiculous union labor rules called for separate drivers for cake and bread, even when both products were being delivered to the same location.

On Black Friday, unions paid people and bused them to WalMart stores across the nation to protest what they called low wages and poor working conditions. They said they wanted to hurt the company. Why would workers wish to injure any company that provides jobs and pays wages?

By the way, one Hostess worker said she preferred drawing unemployment benefits to giving concessions to the company.

Have unions outlived their usefulness? And is it also possible unemployment benefits have become too attractive?

If you have to think about this question, then you know little about biblical history. The Muslims are the aggressors, or maybe a more accurate term would be murderers.

Almost daily, Muslim terrorists fire deadly rockets into Israel with the intent to kill and maim innocent civilians. Israel retaliates by targeting the terrorists.

Muslims claim they are the rightful owners of the property which makes up the tiny nation of Israel; that Israel is an illegal occupier. Is that true; is Israel illegally occupying Muslim land?

No! Even though Muslims have from time to time occupied what is now the land of Israel, it does not belong to the Muslims. God gave that land and more to Israel.

In Genesis 15:18 we read, “In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.”

And just before the Israelites invaded the Promised Land, God reaffirmed His promise. “From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast” (Joshua 1:4).

That land in today’s terms include everything from the Nile river in Egypt to Lebanon (North to South) and everything from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River (West to East).

That means Israel is the rightful owner of all of modern Israel, plus the West Bank and Gaza, plus part of Egypt and Syria, plus all of Jordan, plus part of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

So, who are the aggressors, the Israelis or the Muslims? You decide!

Unless your head has been stuck in the sand for the past four years, you realize Barack Hussein Obama is a different kind of president; in fact you realize he is a different kind of American, if in fact he is American.

How else can one explain his siding with Palestinian terrorists against Israel, our only true friend in the Middle East? How else can one explain his not having time to meet with Israel’s prime minister, yet found time to appear on a TV talk show?

How else can one explain his apologizing to the Muslim world and Europe for America’s arrogance in light of all this nation has done to free other peoples from oppression; can one forget the thousands of Americans that died on the beaches of Normandy?

How else can one explain his coziness with Hugo Chavez and his stand-offish attitude toward the prime minister of Canada? How else can one explain his return to Great Britain a bust of Winston Churchill, which was a gift during a previous administration?

How can one explain his financing Brazil’s off-shore drilling while putting a moratorium on America’s? How else can one explain his refusal to open oil rich federal lands for exploration, putting more money in the hands of Muslims who want to kill us?

How else can one explain his rejection of the Keystone Pipeline project that would make us less dependent on Muslim oil while creating thousands of high paying jobs for Americans?

How else can one explain why our Counter-Terrorism Task Force was not activated after the Benghazi terrorist attack? And how else can one explain why four Americans were allowed to die at the hands of Islamic terrorists while military intervention was denied?

Does Obama favor Muslim terrorists over Americans and their allies? You be the judge!

The campaign season is all but over. There are no more debates. November 6 is but a few days away. Have the candidates revealed their positions; have they presented a clear picture of their plans for this nation?

I say yes! Anyone who has not yet decided who to vote for in the upcoming election is simply detached from reality. The philosophical differences between the two candidates could not be sharper.

One stands for higher taxes and more government intrusion in our lives; the other, lower taxes and less intrusion. One believes non-elected bureaucrats know what is best for everyone; the other believes the individual is more capable of making his own decisions.

The one believes appeasement of Communists and Islamists is the means to a safer and more peaceful society; the other realizes such naivety spells disaster. One believes Israel is an obstacle to Middle East peace; the other that the tiny nation is the only stability in the Middle East.

One supports homosexuality, Communism, and Islamism in our schools; and opposes Christianity and the Bible. The other realizes this nation was founded on Christian principals taken directly from the Bible and wishes to restore it to its rightful place.

In other words, one believes government is the solution to man’s problems; the other recognizes government is the problem!

If one wins the upcoming election, as a nation we will begin a process of recovery; fiscal responsibility will take center stage. In time, we may even re-embrace the principals established by our founding fathers.

If the other wins, we can expect a Godless society where government controls every facet of our lives. Christianity and the Bible will be forever gone; all churches will be closed. Only mosques will be open. The only question is; who will be the stronger, Muslims or Communists?

The future rests with your vote!

President Truman had a saying, “The buck stops here.” That meant he accepted responsibility for everything that went wrong within his administration, whether he was personally involved or not. Boy, those were the good old days!

Today, we have a president who says the buck stops someplace else.

The American Ambassador to Libya wrote in his log that he feared for his life, and according to intelligence reports his concern was well founded. There had been numerous terrorist attacks. Embassy security was understaffed and there were repeated requests for additional resources – all denied. Even the British had closed their embassy due to threats.

Then it happened. The American embassy was attacked by a well-organized Islamic terrorist group. The embassy and consulate were destroyed and four Americans murdered, including the ambassador. And from the moment the attack began, embassy security was in direct contact with the State Department.

And let’s not forget that an attack on embassy property is an act of war!

Yet, the President and Vice President say they had been unaware of the threat-level, and for some time after the attack falsely claimed it was a spontaneous response to an anti-Islamic video. But why? Because the White House chose appeasement of Muslims over protection of American government employees!

We live in a time of instant communications. The President gets daily intelligence briefings, and if need be is awakened from sleep to be briefed. Plus, as Commander-in-Chief, he is responsible for the security of Americans world-wide.

So, was the White House responsible for the American deaths at Benghazi? You be the judge. Just ask yourself, “Do I want four more years of the buck stopping someplace else?”

No one can deny that we are in the political season hot and heavy. And one of the hottest issues is Medicare. Can it be saved? If yes, then how? Both the President and Rep. Ryan say they have plans to do just that. So, let’s make a summary examination of both plans.

I am not an authority on the workings of Obamacare, but reports (many) are that the law calls for $715 billion of its funding to come from Medicare. To put it another way, $715 billion is to be taken from Medicare to help pay for Obamacare.

Part of that $715 billion was for payments to Medicare providers who already claim to be undercompensated. How do you feel about healthcare rationing – it is coming!

Realizing Medicare will soon be broke if major changes are not made, Rep. Paul Ryan wants to leave it as is for everyone age 55 and older, and just make changes for those under 55. That means no one presently on Medicare will be affected, and no one reaching Medicare age within the next ten years will be affected.

Of course, for Ryan’s plan to take effect, Obamacare must be repealed. And that means the Republicans must win back the Senate and White House in November.

As a senior citizen on Medicare, I am very concerned. I don’t want my medical care rationed, and I don’t want to get a letter from one of my doctors saying he can no longer provide me service.

Between Obama’s and Ryan’s plans, I know which one I like best. I hope you do too. November 6 is just around the corner.

During the last two administrations, there has been a lot of talk about redistribution of wealth. But what does it mean? Actually, there are a number of things our central government does to redistribute wealth.

One method is by increasing the number of people drawing social services: subsidized housing, free medical and dental, free telephone, free vehicle, subsidized utilities, food stamps, free public transportation, just to name a few.

In any given economy, the amount of goods and services is finite. When government intervention causes those goods and services to be distributed among a greater number of persons, scarcity sets in and drives up the price. The scarcer something is, the higher the price. Remember these people do not contribute; they just receive. That’s redistribution of wealth.

That is bad for the wage earner and anyone on fixed income because it means they must spend more of their income to receive the same goods and services.

Our central government also redistributes wealth by what is called Quantitative Easing, or QE; the Fed prints more fiat money. Fiat (not a car) simply means currency backed by nothing but the government’s word. That in itself sounds scary, doesn’t it?

With QE, more dollars chase after the same finite goods and services as before QE, driving up prices and driving down your buying power; hence a further redistribution of wealth.

So, when Uncle Bernanke’s Fed says it’s going to help the economy with another QE, and consequently you have to pay more at WalMart and the gas pumps, who do you think is being helped?

Two other ways our government redistributes wealth is by wasting your tax dollars on private investments doomed to fail from inception and corrupt foreign governments. Ever hear of Solyndra? What about Greece?

Think about all this when you enter the voting booth on November 6!

I just read that more than half the American population receives some form of social assistance. Social assistance – that’s a nice way of saying welfare.

If we get out of work we can draw unemployment for more than a year. If we get upside-down in our home mortgage, the government will reduce the principal. And if we decide to just stop paying, we can get free rent for two years or more.

There are programs for free or subsidized rent, free medical and dental care, free food stamps, free energy, free telephone service, free furniture, free used autos, and assistance for unwed mothers – the list goes on and on.

And money is the least of concern; Obama’s friend Bernanke has a money machine.

If we continue down this economic path, we may soon reach a time when no one has to work. The government will take care of everyone from cradle to grave. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

There will be plenty of time for those great things in life, like fishing and golfing. You can tell what I like, can’t you? Just think – the whole country will be on permanent vacation.

And we can all be Democrats, or Progressives – or is it Marxists? I tend to have difficulty separating the three.

Oh, I forgot! If no one is working, who will produce our food? Who will be producing our energy? What about police or fire protection? And who will be available to run the stores where we shop?

But not to worry – I’m sure our government has an answer.

Just remember all this when you step into that voting booth on November 6. We certainly wouldn’t want to upset a good thing.

As a Christian, I am thankful homosexuals made an issue of marriage. They claim marriage should include same-sex couples, while everyone with an IQ above that of a zombie knows marriage can only be between a man and a woman. As someone once said, “The debate is over.” God ended this debate some six-thousand years ago!

When the godless left chose to take on Chick-fil-A, they had no idea it would create a firestorm. But did it ever! My wife and I chose to patronize one of the company’s facilities in Florence, AL on Wednesday, August 1. Arriving shortly after 4:00 p.m. we stood in the walk-up line almost two hours before being able to get served.

And I believe we chose the fastest line. Each of the two vehicle lines was at least a block long. And when we departed, all three lines appeared the same. Florence’s second Chick-fil-A facility had earlier run out of chicken.

We witnessed no protests; just a lot of people dishing out a lot of chicken, fries, and drinks. It was something I will forever remember.

But since homosexuals said they would be picketing Chick-fil-A on Friday, August 3, my wife and I decided to patronize the facility that day also. This time the lines were shorter but business was brisk. Still, no protesters in sight.

So, my question is, where was that 2.4%? And where was that majority who claim they support same-sex marriage?

Those of you on the left will win a few skirmishes; you already have. And you may win a few more. After all, Satan is the god of this world (2 Cor 4:4). But, Sovereign God controls history and will have the last say.

Again, thanks homosexuals; you just awakened a sleeping giant. Think about it, Chick-fil-A will still be on a lot of peoples’ mind come November 6.
